Silva Blazquez Piano Studio

about SILVA BLAZQUEZ


Silva Blazquez was born into a musical family in Jekabpils, Latvia, a small Eastern European country known for its great musical culture and traditions. She has a versatile background in performance, teaching, and accompanying. Through her long teaching career, Ms. Blazquez has taught piano to children and adults, professionals and amateurs of all levels.

Ms. Blazquez is a graduate of Latvia State Music Academy, where she majored in piano performance, chamber music, and pedagogy. In addition, she received scholarship to attend piano performance master classes at the Franz Liszt School of Music in Weimar, Germany. She holds Masters Degrees in Piano Performance, Piano Pedagogy, and Accompaniment.

Students in the Silva Blazquez Piano Studio have successfully performed and won many prizes at different festivals and competitions, including Virginia State Competitions, MTNA Southern Division Finals, MTNA Senior Piano Duet Finals, Asian American Piano Competition, Chopin International Piano Competition (Hartford, CT), Knabe Young Artist Competition, Old Dominion Classical Music Competition, Bland Contest, AFAF Romantic Music Competition, Paderewski International Piano Competition, Kaufman International Youth Piano Competition, Young Artist Musicale at George Mason University, and The Raising Stars at the Alden Theater. Many of "Ms. Silva's" students have performed at the prestigious Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, New York. Her studio frequently participates in events held by NVMTA, WMTA, and SMC.

Solo and accompanying performances have taken Ms. Blazquez throughout her native Latvia to Russia, Germany, Denmark, Ukraine, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, and the United States.
